Auto Glass Questions, Answered

The questions we get asked most often in Celina. If yours is not here, call (469) 429-0670.

Is there an auto glass shop in Celina?

Not for vehicle glass. There is a flat glass and mirror business on the downtown square, and there are collision centres nearby, but the auto glass companies that show up in a Celina search are almost all based in Frisco, McKinney, Plano or Dallas running a service-area page. That is why everything we do is mobile — there is nowhere in town to bring the car to.

Why do I keep getting rock chips in Celina?

Because you are driving through a construction site the size of a city. Roughly two hundred building permits a month, seven thousand homes underway at Legacy Hills, thirteen miles of tollway being built north of US 380, and concurrent work on FM 428, FM 1385, FM 1461, Coit Road and CR 52. All of it moves on dump trucks and loose aggregate, much of it on two-lane roads where you cannot get away from the truck in front of you.

How long does a chip repair take?

About thirty minutes from the technician arriving to driving away. You do not need to be there for it, as long as the vehicle is unlocked or you have left the keys. Most people book it at their house or at the job site and carry on with their day.

Can a crack be repaired or does it need replacing?

A chip smaller than a quarter, or a single crack under about six inches that has not reached the edge of the glass and is not in the driver's direct line of sight, can usually be repaired. Longer cracks, edge cracks, three or more separate chips, or damage sitting in front of the driver mean replacement.

Does my insurance pay for a windshield in Texas?

Only if you bought the glass endorsement. Texas does not require insurers to waive the deductible on glass claims the way Florida and South Carolina do, so full glass coverage here is an optional add-on. If you have it, a replacement may cost you nothing. If you do not, your comprehensive deductible applies — typically $250 to $500 — which is more than most chip repairs cost outright.

Does my truck need ADAS recalibration after a new windshield?

If it has lane keeping, adaptive cruise control or automatic emergency braking, yes. There is a camera mounted to the glass feeding those systems, and replacing the windshield moves it. Most vehicles from roughly 2018 onward need it, and Celina's fleet is overwhelmingly newer than that.

Will you come out to a job site?

Yes, and it is a lot of what we do. Builders and trades working the Celina developments are exactly the people collecting rock chips, and pulling a truck off the schedule to sit at a glass shop in Plano is not realistic. We work around your crew's hours.

Does Celina get hail?

Yes. Celina sits in the North Texas hail belt with sixty-five recorded hail events, the largest at three inches. March 2024 brought golf-ball hail at 1.75 inches, and there were one-inch events in April and May of that year. April is historically the worst month. After any significant storm every glass company in the metroplex books out within about forty-eight hours, so call early rather than waiting to see whether the crack spreads.
